Policies and Procedures The following policies and procedures benefit both teacher and student and promote high standards in Diane's School of Dance.
ENROLLMENT A student is considered enrolled when the tuition check has been accepted. Classes may not be reserved over the phone.
TUITION Tuition is due prior to each 8 week quarter in September, November, January, and March. Each quarter's tuition must be paid in full by the 8th week before a student is allowed to participate in the next quarter. There will be a $25.00 charge for any returned check.
PARKING Park in front of the studio or in the middle of the main parking lot. Parking in front of other establishments is NOT allowed.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE Students should arrive five minutes (but no earlier than fifteen minutes) prior to their scheduled class and remain in the waiting room until their class begins. All students should depart immediately after their class. Parents should remain with younger students until class begins.
PARENTS' WEEK Family and friends are invited to observe classes the first week of each month. A comfortable waiting room is always available. Parents' week is not held in December or May to accommodate recital rehearsals.
NO GUM, CANDY, OR DRINKS IN THE DANCE STUDIO
COMBINATION AND JAZZ CLASS DANCE ATTIRE Appropriate dance attire includes: leotard, dance top,
bikertard, jazz pants, and dance skirts.
BALLET CLASS DANCE (4th grade through High School) ATTIRE Black leotard, pink tights, ballet skirt (NO BLACK TIGHTS OR PANTS) and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be worn in a bun.
MALE DANCE ATTIRE T-shirt, shorts, sweat pants, jazz pants. BLACK SHOES - tap, ballet, jazz
MAKE-UP CLASSES Classes missed due to illness may be rescheduled. Make-up classes are not required. There are no refunds or credits for missed classes.
SCHOOL CLOSING NOTICES Classes will be cancelled when the Park Hill School District cancels school or dismisses early due to weather conditions. Classes are not cancelled for in-service days, teacher meetings, parent conferences, or President birthdays. Students will receive notes concerning holiday vacations or any class rescheduling. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM All students present a Christmas performance for family and friends at the dance studio. Attire for younger classes includes a short-sleeve black leotard, black shoes, and tights (white or tan). Middle school and high school students wear black dance tops and black pants or purchase a performance outfit. Ballet students wear a black ballet performance leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.
RECITAL Students participate in a dance recital held in May at the Kansas City Music Hall. All students are required to purchase the costumes for each class in which they are enrolled. Recital costume charges are due in February.
SUMMER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS A summer dance session and summer workshops are offered during June, July, and August.
